Fort Worth church offers free COVID supplies to anyone in Tarrant County as cases spike

New Mount Rose Church

As community spread of COVID remains high in Tarrant County, one Fort Worth church located in 76104 continues to provide its community with COVID personal protective equipment and vaccines.

New Mount Rose Church, at 2864 Mississippi Avenue, offers free COVID test kits, masks and vaccinations for anyone in Tarrant County.

In recent months, the Rev. Kyev P. Tatum said his church received over 13 thousand at-home testing kits and 10 thousand KN95 masks from the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Individuals can come by the church on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to get COVID supplies for themselves and their families, he said.

While the free COVID supplies are located in the 76104 neighborhood, Tatum said anyone in Tarrant County is welcome to come by and get what they need for their family. Supplies include at-home test kits, KN95 masks and hand sanitizer.

Those interested in donating to New Mount Rose Church through monetary donation or COVID supplies can do so during supply pick-up date and times.

New Mount Rose Church was one of the first in Fort Worth to open a monoclonal antibody infusion center at its Clinic Without Walls last year. The center was created following the death of sister Wilma Cary, one of the church’s founders, who died of COVID in December.

The center was funded without money from the city, county, state or federal government, Tatum said. A private testing center provided the vaccines and medical staff free of charge.

The church will also hold a vaccine clinic and free school supply drive on August 13 which will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The drive is not affiliated with the Fort Worth Independent School District.

Tatum said he is concerned about COVID vaccination rates in the area schools and said the drive was a way to bring vaccines and supplies closer to the community.
