Fort Worth-area high schools make changes to football schedule prior to Friday’s rain

More than 25 games involving a Fort Worth-area high school football team has made changes to their game this week in preparation for Friday night’s inclement weather.

The forecast in the Dallas-Fort Worth area calls for 40% chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms around kickoff at 7 p.m. It’s predicting that it will rain in DFW with thunderstorms all of Friday, starting at 4 a.m.

It’s 93% chance of rain with thunderstorms at 4 p.m.

The weather should start clearing up by 10 p.m. Friday night.

It’s Week 11, which means the final regular season games for area high school football teams. It means teams are pushing for playoff spots and district championships.

As of Wednesday morning, 28 total games with a Fort Worth-area team have made changes, with 25 of them moving from Friday to Thursday night.

Two other games with teams in a Fort Worth-area district have also moved to Thursday with Denton/Lake Dallas and Dallas Parish/Plano Prestonwood.

There will be a double-header for Fort Worth ISD teams with Friday games moving to 5 p.m. Thursday. The originally scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday games have been pushed back an hour to an 8 p.m. start.

Six games have major playoff, seeding or championship implications, including district title games between Midlothian/Everman and Red Oak/Midlothian.
