Game of the night
Aubrey d. Argyle Liberty Christian, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 17-25, 15-13
After 11 ties, the Aubrey Chaparrals took down the Warriors in the fifth set to pick up the non-district win in Argyle on Tuesday night.
Reagan Fifer and Tori Garrett picked up the Liberty block to give the Warriors a 7-5 lead in the fifth that forced an Aubrey timeout. But the Chaps came back to tie it at 7. Again, Liberty owned a two-point lead at 12-10 and Aubrey called its second timeout.
The Chaps tied it at 12 after back to back Liberty errors. The Warriors led 13-12 on an Austen Goodgion kill down the middle. Another error tied it at 13 and Kyndai Hall got a big block to put Aubrey up 14-13.
Liberty, No. 3 in the small school area rankings, dropped to 15-7. Aubrey improved to 20-7.
Fifer, a Houston commit and the No. 13 ranked area player, helped lead Liberty in the first and fourth sets. Tarleton State commit Sydney Garrison helped Aubrey in come back wins in the second and third sets.
Top Performers
Dasia Ingram, Sr., Everman: Ingram had 25 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks and 18 digs in the Bulldogs’ 3-2 win over Waco University.
Kenna Buchanan, Sr., Midlothian: Buchanan, the No. 2 player in the area, had 16 kills and hit 0.714 in the Panthers’ 3-0 win over Arlington Seguin.
Sophie Chambers, Sr., Northwest: Chambers added another triple-double this season with 14 kills, 19 assists and 13 digs during a 3-0 win over Paschal.
Jaden Polovina, Sr., Crowley: Polovina led the Eagles during a 3-0 win over Haltom with 30 assists and 11 digs.
Shelby Martin, Sr., Grandview: Martin led the Zebras with a team-high 27 kills during a 3-2 loss against China Spring.
Grace Maxwell, Jr., Legacy: The Broncos’ setter put in 42 assists, 14 digs, 3 blocks and 6 aces during a 3-2 loss to Trinity.
Gracie Trulson, Soph., Decatur: Trulson registered 19 kills and 5 digs during the Eagles’ 3-0 win over Wichita Falls Rider.
Number
18: Midlothian, the top-ranked Class 5A area team, had 18 aces during its 3-0 district win over Seguin. The Panthers (25-2) got seven players with one ace and six players with two aces. Lilian Gray led the way with five aces.
Results
Colleyville Heritage d. Eaton, 25-21, 28-26, 25-17
The Panthers, No. 2 in the Class 5A area rankings, got 35 assists from Morgan Howard as they beat the Eagles in three sets. Eaton entered the week No. 6 in the Class 6A area rankings.
Heritage improved to 22-7. Eaton dropped to 13-14.
Howard entered the season as the top-ranked player in the Fort Worth-area player. Suli Davis, No. 8, had a game-high 15 kills vs. Eaton while Maddie Bird had 12 kills. Ava Ash had a team-high 16 digs.
Chisholm Trail d. Alvarado, 25-10, 25-11, 25-14
Claire Duley hit 0.485 and finished with a game-high 18 kills as the Rangers swept the Indians. Reaghan Jones added 24 assists and 12 digs. Chisholm improved to 15-12.
Morgynne McQueen chipped in seven kills while Lillian Quidachay led the team with 18 digs.
The Rangers scored the first five points and a Duley kill made it 7-1. Harmony Soles had a kill and block and the lead grew to 12-3. Chisholm then led 7-1 in the second set. It was 20-11 after a Duley kill. Alvarado led 4-2 in the third before Duley scored a point to give the Rangers a 5-4 lead. Soles and Duley picked up kills and the lead went to 13-7. Back to back kills by Mikayla Torrens made it 16-9.
Chisholm went up 10 after a Jones kill sent it to 19-9. Lacie Rusk scored on match point giving the Rangers a sweep.
Argyle d. Frisco Liberty, 25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22
The Eagles improved to 21-10 after defeating the Redhawks in four sets. Argyle is No. 5 in the Class 5A area rankings.
Sydney Payne put in 17 assist and eight digs while Piper Mickenheim added 22 digs. Katherine Holtman, Allie Hesselgesser, Camryn Heiser and Harper Hurley combined for 25 kills.
Jordyn Moore recorded a double-double with 16 assits and 12 digs.
