Former Wisconsin basketball player Sacia Vanderpool joins her brother at her new school

MADISON – When former Wisconsin Badger Sacia Vanderpool settles into her new college home, there will be at least one familiar face on campus.

Her brother.

Vanderpool, a member of the Badgers women’s basketball team the past three seasons, announced her commitment to North Dakota State on Thursday evening on social media.

“Excited for this new chapter!,” she wrote on X and Instagram. “Roll herd.”

Vanderpool will join her younger brother, Zach, in Fargo, North Dakota. Zach Vanderpool, a 6-foot-5, 227-pound defensive end, is a member of the Bison's incoming freshman class. He is listed as a three-star recruit by 247sports and a two-star prospect by Rivals.

Sacia Vanderpool, a 6-4 forward, has two years of eligibility remaining. She graduated for Wisconsin in three years and with an eye on leaving the program participated in the team’s Senior Day celebration.

Vanderpool joins Sania Copeland (Kansas) as former UW players who have found new teams in the transfer portal.

Three others former Badgers – center Tessa Towers, forward Imbie Jones and forward Ana Guillen – have not announced new teams.
