Former University of Hawaii football star Colt Brennan dies at 37

Colt Brennan, a former record-setting star quarterback for the University of Hawaii, has died. He was 37.

Details surrounding Brennan’s death are scarce, but he was staying at a rehab facility in his native California, according to Hawaii News Now.

During his storied career at Hawaii, Brennan set a number of NCAA records as a three-year starter. After finishing his senior season as a Heisman Trophy finalist, Brennan and the Warriors lost to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl the day after New Year’s in 2008.

Brennan was drafted by the now Washington Football Team in the 2008 NFL Draft and also had stints with the Oakland Raiders before jumping to the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He also played in the United States Football League and the Arena Football League.

His post-playing career was marked by run-ins with the police in Hawaii, including a number of DWI and trespassing arrests.
