Former Tennessee Titans join forces with Nashville organizations for free health clinic

A Nashville health clinic providing free dental services, diapers and vaccines will take place Saturday, April 20 through a partnership between NFL Alumni Tennessee, St. Luke CME Church and the Tennessee CEAL Program of Meharry Medical College.

Music, free food and exercise classes will also be available for event participants between 12 to 4 p.m. at St. Luke CME Church in the Buena Vista area of Nashville. Former Tennessee Titans will be available to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

Vaccines against shingles (for adults aged 50 and older), flu, RSV (for adults aged 60 and older), Hepatitis B, HPV, pneumococcal, Tdap and COVID-19 will be available for event attendees, offered by Kroger.

The event is meant to promote healthy lifestyles and provide access to health care for members of the Nashville community. It's part of the NFL Alumni's "Gear up Tennessee" initiative, a partnership between the organization and the Tennessee Department of Health, which features former NFL players promoting vaccinations and healthy lifestyle choices like exercising.

Haynesworth, a former University of Tennessee star, will participate in the April 20 clinic, part of the NFL Alumni's "Gear up Tennessee" initiative which promotes vaccinations and healthy lifestyle choices.

The Conference of National Black Churches, Dedicated Senior Medical Center, Help to Moms, the Nashville Diaper Connection and the CEO Roundtable on Cancer are also supporters of the event.

Former NFL players at the event will include:

  • Al Smith, NFL Alumni Tennessee President, Former All-Pro Houston Oilers Linebacker

  • Brad Hopkins, NFL Alumni Ambassador, Former All-Pro Tennessee Titans Tackle

  • Derrick Mason, NFL Alumni Ambassador, Former Pro Bowl Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver

  • Albert Haynesworth, NFL Alumni Ambassador, Former Pro Bowl Tennessee Titans Defensive Tackle

  • Joey Kent, NFL Alumni Ambassador, Former Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver

  • Neil O’Donnell – NFL Alumni Ambassador, Former Pro Bowl Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback

Dr. Donald Alcendor of Meharry Medical College and Reverend Daryl A. Ballard, II of St. Luke CME Church will also be present at the church event, located at 2008 Ed Temple Blvd.
