Former TCU coach Gary Patterson has landed another job with a Big 12 rival.

Patterson is joining Dave Aranda’s staff at Baylor as a senior level strategic consultant. SicEm365’s Colt Barber was the first to report the news. A source confirmed the report to the Star-Telegram.

The position will include scouting duties for the Bears. Aranda is in a pivotal year after a 6-7 season in 2022 followed by a 3-9 campaign this past season. Patterson last held a position at Texas, where he was a special assistant to Steve Sarkisian.

Patterson has the most wins in program history and led the Horned Frogs to six conference championships. The highs of his tenure included victories in the 2011 Rose Bowl and 2014 Peach Bowl. Patterson was a two-time National Coach of the Year and had a 181-79 record at TCU.

Patterson resigned on Oct. 31, 2021, after TCU fell to 3-5 late in the season.
