Former PSU receiver Parker Washington goes to Jacksonville Jaguars in 6th round of 2023 NFL Draft

Penn State’s leading receiver had his name called on the third day of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Parker Washington was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round with the 185th overall pick.

Washington is the sixth player from the Nittany Lions to be taken in this year’s draft, joining Joey Porter Jr., Brenton Strange, Juice Scruggs, Ji’Ayir Brown and Sean Clifford.

He joins former teammate Jahan Dotson as Penn State wide receivers drafted in the last two years. The Washington Commanders took Dotson with the 16th pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

While Washington led the Nittany Lions in receiving yards, he did not play in every game for the program. He missed the team’s last two regular season games and the Rose Bowl after suffering a leg injury.

The injury kept him from working out during the pre-draft process, but he still attended the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, where he measured in at 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighed 204 pounds.

His 2022 season was his only as the program’s top target, thanks to Dotson’s presence in his previous years, but he still took advantage by producing.

Washington led the Nittany Lions with 46 receptions and 611 yards despite missing those three games. He also added two touchdowns, one of which came in his 11-catch, 179-yard performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He had some of his best performances against the Buckeyes, tallying 24 catches for 360 yards in his three matchups against them.

Washington leaves the program with 146 receptions, 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns in 31 games that came across three seasons. His reception total ranks ninth all-time in program history.
