The hype around Arch Manning, nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, is incredible. Today, a notable former NFL quarterback that doesn’t come from that impressive family tree weighed in.

Jay Cutler, a former Pro Bowler who played from 2006-17, was reportedly asked about Manning tape that he had seen, according to 247 and On3Sports founder Shannon B. Terry. His response: “He’s the real deal.”

That seems to be the takeaway from most who see Manning play. 247Sports has him locked in as a composite five-star, ranked No. 2 overall and No. 1 among quarterbacks in the class.

The big question is: where will he play his college ball? His uncles’ alma maters, Ole Miss and Tennessee, both hope to be in the mix, though major powers like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Texas are all involved as well.

It doesn’t sound like the Manning family is racing towards a decision. They’ve taken their time with all things relating to Arch Manning’s recruitment, and his eventually decision will probably be similar.

As a class of 2023 player, he still has plenty of time to figure things out, and the attention being paid to his recruitment promises to ramp up even more.

Cutler knows what that high-level, likely SEC competition looks like, after starring at Vanderbilt in the mid-2000s. He’s also not particularly known for blowing smoke. If he thinks the young Manning is worth all the hype, it seems like a good bet.
