Former NFL QB Bruce Gradkowski Lands Coaching Job
Former University of Toledo star and longtime NFL quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is returning to “The Glass City” to become a high school coach.
Gradkowski has been named the new head coach at St. Francis High School in Toledo, according to WTOL.com’s Jordan Strack. It will be the first head coaching position for Gradkowski, who retired from the NFL after a 12-year career following the 2016 season.
“I’m fired up. I just think it’s such a great opportunity,” Gradkowski told Strack. “To be part of St. Francis, football is life. I was fortunate enough to play professionally. To be able to give back and help student-athletes, not just on the field, but off the field, that’s what I’m excited about.”
Since retiring, Gradkowski has done analyst work for PFF and on the radio nationally. He’s also a restaurant owner in the Toledo area.

A Toledo Hall of Famer, Gradkowski was a sixth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006. He played two years in Tampa and also spent time with the St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Gradkowski closed out his professional career with 4,057 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in 37 games.
