Former EastEnders star Neil McDermott welcomes third child with wife Michelle

Former EastEnders star Neil McDermott has welcomed a third child with wife Michelle Edwards.

The soap star shared the wonderful news on Instagram that his wife had given birth to the couple's third child — a girl called Maria Jolene McDermott.

In his Instagram post, McDermott paid loving tribute to both his wife and newborn daughter as he announced the exciting family update.

"Welcome to the world. Maria Jolene McDermott. Born Tuesday at 4.18pm. 8 pound 3," he wrote.

"ThankYou Michelle for carrying our beautiful daughter and going through another pregnancy and all that entails. I don’t know how you do it. Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear DVT socks. I love you. ❤️

"Thanks for all the messages. We are home, happy and safe. And Baby number 3 is thriving. And Babies number 1 and 2 adore their baby sister."

Former Hollyoaks stars Daisy Wood-Davis and Danny Mac, as well as West End stars Aimie Atkinson and Erin Caldwell, were among the couple's friends to congratulate them on Instagram.

The couple are parents to the two older children referenced in Neil's post, Arabella and Roddy. Neil and Michelle have been married since 2007.

McDermott is best known for playing Ryan Malloy in EastEnders, originally in various stints between 2003 and 2011.
