Former Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler visits Artesia in April. Here are the details.

Jason Witten, an 11-time NFL Bowl player, is set to speak at a community gathering in Artesia in April. Here is a quick look at his visit.

Witten's visit marks third year of NFL players visiting Artesia

At 7 p.m. April 13 at the Bulldog Pit, Witten will give a faith-based talk to the community, said Ronnie Williams, senior pastor of Harvest Fellowship Church.

“This is the third year for the Red Zone event,” he said. “The goal of this event annually is to encourage, equip and empower our community of Artesia and the surrounding area through Christ-centered messages and testimonies from Godly professional athletes.”

Last year Super Bowl champion Kurt Warner spoke to the community and sports broadcaster; Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow spoke at the first event in 2022.

Williams said Witten’s visit is sponsored by the My Ashleah Foundation, local businesses, churches and individuals within the Artesia area.

He said the April event is free, attendees need a ticket and will be available at the Artesia Chamber of Commerce starting in February.

Who is Jason Witten?

According to his website, Witten played 17 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders.

Witten was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2012. The award recognizes a player’s commitment to charitable causes.

He leads the Dallas Cowboys organization in career receptions with 1,215 and he’s first in receiving yards with 12,977.

Witten also coaches at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas as the team won a state football title in 2023, noted the school’s website.
