Former Berne Union standout Sophia Kline getting it done at the next level

CLEVELAND – Former Berne Union standout Sophia Kline continues to shine at the next level in her freshman season at Ursuline College.

Kline was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after three weeks of games. G-MAC Athlete of the Week, which is typically awarded weekly, covered women's basketball games from December 17th to January 7th, due to the holiday break. The Arrows went 4-0 during that span, taking down Wheeling, Purdue Northwest, Walsh and Cedarville, she hit her stride during the Arrows win streak, three of which were in front of a home crowd.

Kline, who was the Eagle-Gazette Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-Ohio honors while leading the Rockets to more than 90 wins during her four-year career, averaged 15.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, adding in five total blocked shots and nine steals. She shot a 52.5% field goal average and 81.8% from the free throw line.

Kline had back-to-back double-doubles against Purdue Northwest and Walsh. In the win against the Pride, Kline scored a career-high 23 points and added 10 rebounds. Two days later, she hit her career high in rebounds versus the Cavaliers with 13 total in addition to her 21 points.

Kline kept it going in the Arrows' last game at Ohio Dominican where she finished with 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, which is a team-high this season and places her in the top 10 most rebounds in a single game in program history.Kline is the first freshman in eight years to earn G-MAC weekly honors, the last awardee being Brigan Wymer in 2016.
