Former Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco working out for Cleveland Browns

BEREA — A familiar face to the Browns is among the quarterbacks they're looking at to add to the roster.

Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is working out for the Browns on Friday, a league source confirmed to the Beacon Journal. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was the first to report.

The source stated it was "just a workout" for now with the 38-year-old veteran, who is the only quarterback to work out for the Browns. However, general manager Andrew Berry stated on Wednesday after Deshaun Watson was placed on season-injured reserve in order to have shoulder surgery that he planned on adding a third quarterback to the roster eventually.

Rookie fifth-round pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson is starting for the Browns (6-3) on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) in a critical home AFC North matchup. Fourth-year pro P.J. Walker has started two games and finished out another during Watson's previous shoulder injury.

Flacco last played for the New York Jets from 2020-22 after having been dealt there by the Denver Broncos, with whom he played the 2019 season. However, the former University of Delaware product made his name and won a Super Bowl in 2012 during his career with the Ravens from 2008-18.

While in Baltimore, Flacco started all 163 games in which he played, completing 3,499 of 5,670 passes (61.7%) for 38,245 yards. He's thrown 212 touchdowns and 136 interceptions.

Flacco was, like most Ravens stars at that time, a thorn in the side of the Browns. He was 17-3 as a starter against Cleveland with Baltimore, and also was 1-0 with the Jets.

Last season in five games and four starts with the Jets, Flacco completed 110-of-191 (57.6%) of his passes for 1,051 yards. He threw five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Nine times in Flacco's career, he's won in Cleveland. The most recent of those wins came in Week 2 last season when he started for the Jets in their 31-30 come-from-behind win.

Flacco was 433-of-706 passing (61.33%) for 4,945 yards and a 89.3 passer rating with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions all-time against the Browns.
