Former Badger Derek Watt to be guest speaker at Milwaukee High School Sports Awards show

Former University of Wisconsin and NFL fullback Derek Watt will be the featured speaker at the Milwaukee High School Sports Awards show, presented by Festival Foods. The live show is at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14 at the Riverside Theater.

Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased on the show’s ticketing site. The show is produced with the support of US Cellular, Wisconsin Army National Guard and Boundless Adventures.

Watt was a sixth-round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers, where he played from 2016-19, and went on to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2020-22. As a fullback, he had a huge impact as a blocker in both running and passing situations, as well as being one of their top special teams players.

Watt grew up in Pewaukee with his future NFL brothers J.J. and T.J. Watt. At Wisconsin, he helped tailback Melvin Gordon break numerous national, Big Ten Conference and Badgers rushing records.
