New cookbook releases are always exciting, but even more so when they contain recipes culled from the world's finest chefs. UNICHEF: Top Chefs Unite in Support of the World's Children does just that. This cookbook is a collaboration of 40 world-class chefs, assembled by Hilary Gumbel, a consultant for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and a volunteer who advocates on the organization's behalf.
UNICEF and HSN hosted an event at New York City's The Lambs Club to celebrate the launch of the cookbook on Sept. 15. The event was attended by Bryant and Hilary Gumbel, Matt Lauer, Regis and Joy Philbin, Anne Burrell, Greg Gumbel and Caryl Stern, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF President and CEO.
Celeb chefs including Marcus Samuelsson, David Chang, Wolfgang Puck, Emeril Lagasse, Cat Cora, Giada De Laurentiis and Mario Batali have recipes included in the collection. According to Amazon, "The goal of Unichef is to expose children and adults to the diverse foods, tastes, and culinary customs of the world around them." Each recipe is also accompanied by a personal story from the chef that reveals their relationship to food.
Hilary Gumbel will donate 100% of the royalties she would have received from the proceeds of the book to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
