Strawberry Jam Recipes

Jam can be made with many different types of fruit. Not to be confused with jelly, jam tastes delicious on breakfast pastries like croissants, muffins and scones, but it is also a delicious addition to a cheese plate. One of the most common types of jam is strawberry jam. Since strawberries are a delicious summer fruit, it's not surprising to see strawberry jam recipes becoming popular in the summer.

What is the Difference Between Jelly, Jam and Preserves?

Fruit juice is used to make jelly, while jam is made with fruit pulp or crushed fruit. The consistency of jam is very different than jelly because of the different textures the fruit brings to the spread. Meanwhile, preserves are chunks of fruit surrounded by jelly.

How Do You Make Strawberry Jam?

Jam is made by mixing fruit, pectin and sugar. For an easy strawberry jam recipe you will need strawberries, powdered fruit pectin and sugar (and you can also add lemon juice). Cut the tops off the strawberries and then mash them with a potato masher. Heat the strawberries in a pot and then add fruit pectin and sugar. Martha Stewart skips the pectin and the lemon juice and just boils strawberries and sugar together for a super easy strawberry jam recipe.

Other Jam Flavors

Jam can be made with nearly any fruit. Instead of strawberry jam you can make apricot jam or concord grape jam.
