Banana Foster/Napoleon French Toast

Banana Foster/Napoleon French Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Texas toast
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 3 tsp vanilla, split 3 ways
  • 1 tbsp sugar, divided
  • 2 oz hot fudge sauce
  • 2 oz strawberry cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp cinnamon, divided
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 banana, sliced

Directions

Gently tear out part of the inside of both slices of the Texas toast to form an indented square in the bread. In a small bowl, mix the plain cream cheese with 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. Place into the left side of one of the squares. Then add chocolate in the center. In another bowl mix the strawberry cream cheese and remaining sugar. Place on the other side of the chocolate. Top with the other slice of Texas toast, placing the indented square over the cheese.

In a shallow bowl, beat egg and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and vanilla. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium high heat. Dip sandwich into egg mixture and coat thoroughly. Grill sandwich for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove sandwich from pan. Add in remaining butter, cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar. Stir constantly until a caramel consistency forms. Add in bananas and mix well. Top french toast with bananas and sauce.
