After Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin walked on the moon in 1969, they enjoyed bacon. Even though the bacon had been turned into a cube-like shape for safe space consumption, the astronauts probably weren't too bothered. In addition to bacon cubes, Armstrong and Aldrin ate peaches, sugar cookie cubes and coffee.

Pepsi Will Add Real Sugar

This summer Pepsi will launch a soda with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The new sodas will come in their regular flavor, vanilla and cherry.

Ancient Nomads Spread Ancient Grains.

A new study has found that nearly 5,000 years ago ancient nomads spread grains like barley, wheat and millet around the plains of Kazakhstan. This new finding suggests that the nomadic sheepherders played an important role in spreading the domesticated crops through the region near the Silk Road.

Vertical Farming

Nowadays, technology exists to grow plants inside buildings. Vertical farming is the practice of growing produce indoors, even potentially in buildings like skyscrapers! In Chicago, an entrepreneur named John Edel is trying to show that garbage can help fuel vertical farming. Edel uses a huge digester that transforms food waste into energy to keep the lights on inside the building. He hopes to grow food for nonprofits inside a former meatpacking plant.
