With the recent government shutdown, many government-funded organizations have either closed down entirely or are operating with fewer employees.
The Food And Drug Administration (FDA), which monitors food inspections of imports and packaged foods, is currently operating with 626 investigators. They are in charge or keeping approximately 80 percent of America's food supply safe from contamination. FDA spokesman Steven Immergut said there would be delays in imported food inspections due to the shutdown, but that the FDA would still issue red alerts for major outbreaks.

Check out the slideshow above for foods the FDA has flagged with a history of contamination.
