The Absurdity Sundae

At the Three Twins Ice Cream parlor in Napa, California, you can purchase a $60,000 ice cream sundae that includes a trip to Africa! As if enjoying an ice cream sundae at the highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro weren't enough, the Three Twins Ice Cream founder will personally churn the ice cream with ice from the mountain. This dessert includes a first class ticket to Tanzania, a five-star hotel, a climb with a tour guide and a souvenir t-shirt. An ice cream sundae for two costs $85,000.

Diamond Fruitcake

In 2005, a diamond fruitcake was sold for $1.65 million dollars. The cake took six months to produce thanks to the crafty hand of a Japanese pastry chef. The ingredients have remained secret, but the cake was covered in 223 diamonds.

The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate

In 2007, the famed New York dessert joint, Serendipity, created a hot chocolate ice cream sundae that cost $25,000. The decadent dessert used 28 different cocoas, 14 of which happen to be the most expensive in the world. Topped with 23-karat edible gold, the sundae is served in a goblet also decorated with edible gold. The goblet also boasts an 18-karat gold bracelet with white diamonds. Serendipity even provides a gold, diamond-incrusted spoon.

Strawberries Arnaud

This $1.4 million dollar dessert can be found at Arnaud's in the French Quarter of New Orleans, where the strawberries are marinated in the best port and served with mint, cream and a 4.7-carat pink diamond ring that once belonged to Sir Ernest Cassel, the English financier. The strawberries also come with port served from a $25,000 Charles X crystal cave set.

Recently a slice of cake from Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding was sold for $4,160 at auction. The slice is two years old.

For $130,000 you can try this white cake topped with platinum flakes, necklaces, pendants and pins. Cooked up by the Japanese pastry chef, Nobue Ikara, the cake is dedicated to famous Japanese women like Rinko Kikuchi and Chie Kumazawa in the hopes that this dessert will encourage ladies to wear more platinum jewelry.

Golden Opulence Sundae

Thanks to their $1,000 Golden Opulence Sundae, Serendipity appears on this list for a second time. Using ingredients like Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, the sundae is also served with 23-karat edible gold leaf and sprinkled with Amedei Porcelana, the most expensive chocolate in the world. If that doesn't sound enticing (or expensive) enough, the dessert also features gold dragnets and truffles topped with dessert caviar.

The most expensive truffle in the world clocks in at $250 per truffle, or $2,600 per pound. You can find this delicacy at Knipschildt Chocolatier. Using 70 percent Valrhona cacao and then blended into creamy ganache with truffle oil, the dessert is carefully hand-rolled with a dark truffle on the inside and then sprinkled with cocoa powder. The decadent chocolate is only available by pre-ordering.
