Knives 101

Knives are the defining essential in every woman's kitchen. Basic knife skills are what separate the beginners from the master chefs, and are the difference between a beautifully chopped tomato and lacerated fingers. With one hand safely gripping the knife, keep your guiding hand's fingers curled inward and gripping the food with your fingernails. Remember to always keep your fingers out of harm's way and work at a pace you feel comfortable. A sharpened knife is often a safer one, as dull, rusty knives will force you to make the same slice twice, leaving more room for error.
