Jello Shots for Grown-Ups

When you think of Jello shots, the first thing that probably comes to mind is a college frat party. While Jello shots definitely conjure up images of the college scene, there's no reason they can't be served at more grown-up affairs (and consumed at a more reasonable pace). By presenting Jello shots in more visually appealing ways, it's easy to turn them into a classy treat. In fact, Jello shots can make for a surprisingly fun addition to parties, whether at cocktail hour or dessert. Consider using edible shot glasses like hollowed out strawberries.

How to Make Jello Shots

First, you should decide which type of alcohol you'd like to use. Liquor.com recommends making Jello shots with vodka or rum. In addition to rum or vodka, all you need is one envelope of flavored gelatin, boiling water and cold water. You can even make your own gelatin naturally if you'd prefer not buy it. To make the shots, just stir the gelatin into the boiling water until it dissolves. Add the alcohol to the cold water and then stir to combine the two. Pour the mixture into 16 plastic or paper shot glasses (or an edible shot glass of your choice) and chill until they are solid. (You can use regular shot glasses too, if you wish!)

Rum Jello Shots

Want a more tropical flavor to your shots? Rum Jello shots are great for that. Michael Symon makes a Mojito Jello shot with white rum, fresh mint and lime juice.
