This limited time item comes after the donut chain debuted a croissant-donut in South Korea called the New York Pie Donut.

The Croissant Donut will cost $2.49 and be covered in the same glaze as its Glazed Donut. Dunkin Donuts points out that their new item is not cream-filled like Dominique Ansel's famed Cronut.

The AP notes that this price is more than the about $1 that a donut at the store will set you back, making the menu item profitable for the chain.

Dunkin's Executive Chef Jeff Miller says that he's tasted the Cronut before. He told the AP: "I've tried the product that you mention. As the executive chef of Dunkin', I like ours better."

It's hard to stay competitive with all of the unique menu items that debut so frequently these days. But chains are making sure to stay in the game. Very soon, you'll be able to purchase a croissant-donut hybrid at Dunkin' Donuts. According to The Associated Press, the new menu item will launch nationally starting November 3 for a limited time, over a year after Dominique Ansel Bakery became a viral sensation after launching its trademarked Cronut. (However, the coffee and donut chain has stressed that this is not their version of the Cronut.)
