5 Ways to Prep For Grilling Season

Read on for five ways to prepare for summer grilling!

Clean Grill Grates.

This seems like an obvious one, but make sure to properly clean your grill before getting started. Remove the grill grates and scrub them to remove any rust that may have built up. Oiling the grates is one way to prevent any extra rust from forming.

Scrape the Grill Interior.

Once the grates have been removed, you can clean out the inside of the grill. Scrape out the grill to remove excess buildup of rust. A wire brush works well, but be careful around the burner, where a dry steel wool pad and brush work better.

Wipe Down the Exterior.

While you're already cleaning out the inner parts of your grill, don't ignore the exterior. You may not realize it, but the outside can look pretty unappealing to guests if you aren't giving it any attention. Just wipe it down with soapy water and a sponge.

Fill the Pantry.

Stock the pantry with a good array of flavor enhancers. Grilled meat and vegetables are delicious on their own, but they can taste even better with salt, lemon, spices, dried chiles and herbs. You'll probably also want to add your favorite barbecue sauce to your grocery list.

Stock up on Fuel.

Make sure to buy charcoal before grilling season begins, especially if the old bags didn't survive the winter. The charcoal is fine to use if the briquettes maintained their shape, but if you haven't grilled in a while, it may be time to replenish your supply.

Grilling season is almost here! There's nothing quite like cooking, eating and socializing outside on a nice warm night. So it would be a shame if you were heading outside to prepare dinner only to find that your grill is still covered in remnants from last year's outdoor festivities.

With grilling season right around the corner, there are a few things you need to do to make sure you don't end up cleaning when you want to be cooking. Wiping up the grill is one simple way to get ready—but that's not all.
