15 Awesome Ways to Open a Wine Bottle

A delightful bottle of wine sits before you, but there isn't a cork screw in sight. We've all been there. Luckily, opening wine isn't limited to a wine opener or cork screw. That's right. In fact, using a cork screw may just seem completely boring after you watch this video.

If you consider yourself a handy person, you'll have that bottle opened in no time. Did you know you can open a wine bottle it with a hammer and nail? (We definitely recommended exercising caution when trying this at home!) First, gently hammer the nail into the cork. The hammer is equipped with a back that helps to unhinge nails, so pull the nail out of with the hammer, which will in turn pull out the cork. Voila! You don't even need a nail to try this trick—a screw will also work.

If you don't have a tool kit or are too nervous about your hammering skills, then all you have to do is grab a lip balm or a battery you have lying around. Just push the lip balm or battery into the cork until it falls into the wine. This method also works with chop sticks, or a marker.

Feeling adventurous? The video above says you can open up a bottle of wine with a blow torch! (Again, we recommend being super cautious here. We're not sure this is entirely safe to do on your own!) According to the video above, you just light end of the bottle until the cork pops off. Buzzfeed even managed to open a bottle of wine with a machete... But we're thinking you'll probably want to think twice about that one!
