5 Ways You're Making Smoothies Wrong

Smoothies are simple, right? Toss fruit, juice and yogurt into a blender and voila. Well, while simple, smoothies can still be greatly improved with a few tricks and tips.

If you're always in a hurry, make a big batch of your favorite smoothie in advance. Then freeze the smoothie in muffin tins. Once frozen, just store the muffin-sized frozen smoothies in a big resealable freezer bag. When you're ready to enjoy one, just pop one frozen smoothie into the blender and add your favorite liquid.

Since experts agree that we should be eating five servings of fruits and veggies a day, you can greatly increase your intake by adding a handful of greens to your morning smoothie. Citrus fruits like pineapple do an excellent job of concealing the taste of greens. The greens will alter the color of your smoothie, but not the taste!

Another fun way to enjoy your smoothie is as a popsicle. Just pour your smoothie into freezer molds, and then once frozen, you can enjoy a healthy dessert for breakfast, totally guilt-free.

The most tedious part of smoothie making is probably the clean up, so next time, try this nifty hack. Pour a little bit of dish soap into the blender and fill it up halfway with water. Then blend the liquid like you'd ordinarily blend ingredients (just don't drink the outcome of this one)!
