MOUNT CALVARY — Area high school students will guest star in St. Lawrence Seminary High School's musical production of "Something Rotten!" May 3 through 5.

The show starts at 7 p.m. May 3 and 4, and 2 p.m. May 5 at the school's auditorium, 301 Church St. in Mount Calvary.

"Something Rotten!" is a Renaissance-era comedy that follows two brothers in their attempts to outdo their rival, William Shakespeare, including seeking a soothsayer who shows them how drastically the arts change over time. The chaos that follows their attempts to create the world's first musical is depicted in upbeat songs and pun-filled dialogue.

Written by John O'Farrell and brothers Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, the production originally opened on Broadway in 2015, appealing to history buffs, literature lovers and musical enthusiasts.

St. Lawrence Seminary High School is an all-boys boarding school that supports 140 students in grades 9 through 12 who come to Wisconsin from around the globe.

"Finding a show to accommodate our students is a challenge every year as we have to look to the community to find high school students to help fill the female roles," Musical Director Andrea School said.
