A Florida woman was arrested last week for racing another vehicle in a 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat with an eight-year-old in the car, police said.

Twenty-three-year-old Juliette Leon of Port St. Lucie was clocked at 117 mph in a 45-mph zone in her super sedan on May 9 at around 10:30 p.m., cops said. During the traffic stop, police discovered the young child in the car. Leon was arrested for racing on highways and child neglect, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.

The young child in the car was released to a responsible family member. The driver of the Hellcat was in for a longer night. In addition to the racing on highways and child neglect charges, Leon was also charged with excessive speed and her Hellcat was towed. Her next trip was courtesy of law enforcement, and it was to the St. Lucie County Jail. She was later released on $3,500 bond.

It can be very tempting to dip into the vast power offered up by the supercharged Hemi V-8 engine under the hood of the Charger Hellcat models. The speed and sound of that supercharger can be addicting. However, traveling at triple-digit speeds on the street with a young child in the car is incredibly irresponsible. Hopefully, lessons are learned from this. Keep it on the track, folks.
