Police in a Florida beach town continue to investigate the death of a Warner Robins boy who died after he fell eight stories out of a hotel balcony.

Panama City Beach Police confirmed that the 4-year-old boy fell from an 11th-story balcony onto a third-floor patio at the Laketown Wharf Resort on Sept. 3. The department has declined multiple requests for information from the Telegraph since the incident. The child’s name was redacted from police reports.

The boy was found unresponsive early that morning by someone going to the gym.

According to a police report, a resort employee and a man were attempting CPR on the boy when officers arrived at 6:43 a.m.

The officers could not feel a pulse or heartbeat and reported that there was a “substantial amount” of blood beneath the boy’s head.

Fire and EMS arrived soon after and advised the time of death was 6:50 a.m. after checking for vital signs.

The boy’s father said he put the child to bed at midnight and did not know how or when the boy got out. He told police the 4-year-old immediately comes to his bedside if he wakes up during the night.

At a Sept. 6 press conference, Panama City Beach Police Chief J.R. Talamantez confirmed that the boy’s family were Warner Robins residents visiting Panama City Beach for vacation.

Talamantez said detectives interviewed several people about the incident including the family. He stated that the investigation is ongoing and there is “a lot of information” the department is not able to release yet.

“This is a horrible tragedy,” Talamantez said. “You come here on Labor Day weekend with your child and you have to go home without. There are no words to explain … Our hearts and minds are with [the family].”
