The Flash's Barbara Muschietti reflects on Michael Keaton return

The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti recalled the "almost religious" moment in which Michael Keaton walked on set in full Batman attire.

The new DC outing marks the return of Keaton as the Caped Crusader from Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns, released in 1989 and 1992, respectively. His version of Bruce Wayne comes from an alternate universe to help Barry Allen aka the titular speedy superhero.

"It was amazing. It was almost religious," Barbara said in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy.

"The crew is always talking and chatting, and we were in the Batcave, the ADs told us he was walking in and you could hear a pin drop," she continued.

"It was complete quiet and I still get chills from seeing him just going up the tower in full regalia and just standing there. It was magical. I think it was magical for him too."

The Flash director Andy Muschietti agreed, but explained he had to keep his cool to helm the scene.

"Absolutely. It was fantastic, but obviously I'm a player in all of this and I have to be very focused," Andy said.

"Everyone is observing at that point. I'm not observing, I have to go and talk to Michael and have a lot of variants in my head to do with timing, performance, flow, framing, so you're dealing with a lot of things and you have to do it in a very tight amount of time.

"Forgive me if I wasn't flying around in awe [laughs], which I was."

The Flash is released in UK cinemas on June 14 and in US cinemas on June 16.
