The Flash is coming to cinemas this summer after numerous delays and controversies – and now we have a new trailer to tease its release.

Warner Bros revealed the first trailer for the movie way back in October 2021, but DC fans had to wait until the Super Bowl (February 12) for the new footage. It was worth the wait though as it revealed Michael Keaton's Batman return.

He's not the only DC comeback in the trailer though as we also see Ben Affleck return as Batman and Michael Shannon reprising his Man of Steel role as General Zod.

The Flash sees Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) travel back in time to change the events of the past and save his family. However, it only succeeds in trapping him in a reality where General Zod has returned and there are no superheroes to fight back.

Barry's only hope is to coax a different Batman (Keaton) out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian. No, not Superman – Supergirl (Sasha Calle).

We knew a trailer was coming as Warner Bros confirmed the trailer release by unveilging the official poster on February 10.

The poster shows The Flash (Ezra Miller) in what looks to be the Batcave as he stares out into the distance. The poster has also given us a look at the Batman logo and teases that "worlds collide".

The movie's release has been shrouded in controversy because lead actor Miller has faced multiple legal issues, including pleading no contest to disorderly conduct and facing second-degree assault charges stemming from separate incidents.

Miller was later accused of burglarising a home in Vermont, and there were accusations that they had groomed a young activist named Tokata Iron Eyes (later known as Gibson Iron Eyes) since they met in 2016.

In response to growing outrage about their continued involvement in The Flash, Miller released a statement in August 2022 saying they had "gone through a time of intense crisis".

Miller added that they "want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life."

While announcing a brand new DCEU slate in January, DC boss James Gunn said that The Flash will serve as the film that completely resets the DC Universe, making way for the new slate to be born from its ashes.

The Flash will be released in cinemas on June 16, 2023.
