Five things to know about the Arlington Renegades before their XFL season debut

The XFL relaunch commences on Saturday starting with the season opener between the Arlington Renegades and Vegas Vipers at 2 p.m. CT at Choctaw Stadium.

Here are five things to know before the Renegades season debut:

Who is the starting quarterback?

The Renegades released a depth chart prior to the season and they have two quarterbacks listed as first-stringers, Drew Plitt and Kyle Sloter.

Drew Plitt: Played for six years at Ball State University, becoming the starting quarterback for the last three seasons.

Plitt was second-team All-MAC during the 2020 season and would go on to lead Ball State to their first-ever bowl game victory over a then No. 22 San Jose State in the Arizona Bowl. Plitt would be named the 2020 Arizona Bowl game MVP.

Kyle Sloter: Sloter had a breakout 2016 season for the University of North Colorado setting the school’s all-time mark for touchdowns thrown in a season with 29.

Sloter bounced around the NFL spending time with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders.

Sloter played for the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL, earning All-USFL honors before losing to the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL playoff semifinals.

Who is the head coach?

The renegades are coached by the legendary Bob Stoops often nicknamed “Big Game Bob.” Stoops was the head coach at the University of Oklahoma for 19 seasons.

During his time with the Sooners, they won 10 Big-12 Titles and BCS National Championship in 2000. Stoops himself earned six Big-12 Coach of the Year Awards and was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

How can I buy tickets?

Tickets can be bought on the XFL website for either season ticket packages or single-game tickets.

How can I watch?

The game will be broadcast at 2 p.m. CT on ABC and can be streamed on ESPN+

Are there pregame festivities?

Yes the Renegades are hosting a “Full Throttle Tailgate” at the Centerfield Plaza area and fans are encouraged to go in through the Centerfield entrance if they’re looking to tailgate.

The Centerfield gates will open 90 minutes prior to kickoff for the “Full Throttle Tailgate,” all other gates will open 60 minutes prior to kickoff

The Renegades are also partnering with the Fort Worth chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association to lead the team onto the field.
