Five people injured, one critically, in two-vehicle crash in Eaton County

WALTON TWP. — Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Butterfield Road Saturday afternoon, including a 5-year-old boy whose injuries are considered critical, according to a statement released on X by Michigan State Police.

The head-on crash happened on Butterfield Road between Marshall Road and Interstate 69, state troopers said.

In the same vehicle as the 5-year-old boy, a 34-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and a 13-year-old boy sustained "non-threaten life-threatening injuries." A 50-year-old man and 52-year-old female in the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

"Additional information about the crash and hometowns of the victims will be in a press release at a later time," state troopers said.

Eaton County 911 sent out an alert about the crash just after 1:30 p.m., though it's unclear what time the collision happened.

"At this time there are five injured occupants that were transported to the hospital," the MSP statement said.
