Five Corpus Christi athletes earn medals at TAPPS State Track Meet
Five Corpus Christi athletes earned medals at the TAPPS State Track Meet held last week in Hewitt, led by four-time boys triple jump champion Armando Rivera of John Paul II.
Rivera secured his fourth straight TAPPS 4A state championship with a triple jump of 47-feet, 4.25-inches. The Centurions jumper added a silver medal in the long jump (22-7.75).
IWA's Brandon Silva finished second in the 1,600 meters (4:34.63) and third in the 3,200 (10:08.22) also bringing home two state medals.
John Paul II's Robyn Crain earned a silver medal in the girls long jump (16-10.25), Grace Becker was third in girls high jump (5-0) and Teddy Chavez grabbed bronze in the boys high jump (5-10).
