Fish topped with gold? Just one of the over-the-top things about this new Miami hot spot

You are not actually drinking and dining underwater at the newest addition to Brickell nightlife, but you might be forgiven for thinking you are.

Wet — yes, that’s the name — is now open at the Millecento Building on South Miami Avenue, bringing with it seafood, steaks — and the atmosphere of a neon-lit underwater kingdom.

At the 8,500-square-foot, two-story restaurant and lounge, you’ll find sculptures of King Poseidon presiding over the bar as well as other mythical underwater dwellers, live coral displays and artwork made from Japanese fishing floats. The ceiling art is made from plastic bottles collected from the ocean. (Good for you, Wet.)

If the extravagant concept reminds you of Brickell’s other undersea kingdom-themed clubstaurant, Sexy Fish, you are not alone. They’re on the same street, for starters. And both make extravagance a habit, because Wet’s goal is to make perfect Miami sense, according to managing partner Raxoy (that’s it, just Raxoy, like Prince or Madonna).

“We know Miami loves over the top, and we are here to make that happen,” he said.

The restaurant seats 214 diners, with a menu created by Chef Vural Aydogan. Foodwise, the decadence begins with a seafood platter for two with oysters, clams, mussels, lobster, King crab and tuna tartare. You can order all these things separately, too. Sushi rolls are on the menu, too, as well as pastas and salads and small plates like the charred kraken (octopus with confit purple potato, salsa verde and capers).

The meat program features a variety of steaks, including A5 wagyu. This is high-end beef: Wet claims that it’s the only public restaurant in Brickell to be approved for membership to the Japanese Kobe Association.

But if you want fancy-and-lighter, don’t sleep on The Golden Sole. It’s a Dover sole with beurre blanc and dill topped with 24k gold. If you have to ask the price, you should stick to the small plates.

As you might imagine, cocktails are a thing here, too, like the Slippery When Wet (the love child of a mai tai and piña colada, shaken, not stirred). There are more than 50 wines on the wine list,

If you wonder who gets to sit upstairs gazing down at the fray, you clearly have not been to a clubstaurant before. The Wetsuite on the mezzanine is where the VIP tables are. But don’t worry. You can drink downstairs at the bar, too.
