First trailer for Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev's new R-rated comedy
Sick Girl, the new film starring The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev, has released its first trailer.
The R-rated comedy sees Dobrev play Wren Pepper, who begins to struggle after her closest friends begin to slip away. In a bid to bring the group closer, Wren lies that she has cancer, a decision that will play on her conscience.
The film, the directorial debut from Jennifer Cram, is described as a “hilarious take on the price of insecurity and the rewards of true friendship”.

The supporting cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Dan Bakkedahl, Brandon Mychal Smith, Sherry Cola, and Stephanie Koenig, with Dobrev also serving as an executive producer on the project.
“Sick Girl has all the elements of a great comedy – a talented cast, relatable storyline and a fresh perspective on female friendships,” said Jackrabbit CEO Jack Campbell (via Deadline). “We believe it will resonate with audiences around the world and we can’t wait to bring it to them.”
Dobrev is best known for her roles as Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries. Spin-offs The Originals and Legacies followed since its launch.

While there are rumours of a remake of the main show, one cast member who likely wouldn’t return is Paul Wesley, with the actor revealing that he had no interest in reprising his role as Stefan Salvatore.
“I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone The Vampire Diaries,” he said. “I don't really miss anything about playing him, and I don't mean that in a [negative way]. Eight years is a long time, and I'm so glad to put that to rest.”
Sick Girl will be released in the US on October 20. There is currently no news on a UK release date.
