Transformers One has released its first trailer with Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry.

The upcoming animated film will serve as an origin story for the franchise, with the action being set on Cybertron, as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime (Hemsworth) and D-16/Megatron (Henry) go from brothers-in-arms to mortal enemies.

The first trailer is action-packed, as these two iconic characters from the Transformers saga learn to harness their powers and, yes, transform into shiny cars.

With the film’s release date pencilled in for October 11, fans had been eagerly awaiting the release of the trailer.

The lead stars introduced a video confirming this first teaser earlier this week.

“Hey guys we’ve got some big news for you,” began Hemsworth, who shared the clip on his Instagram account. “This Thursday, we’re premiering the trailer for our first Transformers movie, Transformers One. And that’s not all – we’re launching it where, Brian?

“In space,” he replied, before asking: “But Chris, why space?”

Hemsworth, with his tongue very firmly in his cheek, added: “Great question, Brian! With this movie, the sky's the limit. Also, it looks really, really cool. So join us for the live stream because Transformers One is about to go out of this world.”

Transformers One will be released in cinemas on October 11.
