The tense first trailer for Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney's new movie Reality has been released.

The movie — which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year to huge acclaim (landing a 100% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes) — follows the real-life story of Reality Winner, who leaked documents related to Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.

In the trailer, we see the FBI questioning Sweeney's Reality and slowly closing in on her.

"I don't think you're a big bad master spy… I think you just messed up," one agent tells her. "I think you might have been angry about what's going on."

The footage is also inter-spliced with the real-life transcripts from the FBI interrogation, which serves as the basis for the script by director Tina Satter — which is itself based on her stage play Is This A Room.

Reviews for the movie have been rave on the whole, with The Guardian awarding five stars and writing: "This, the film says, is what it really feels like to be on the receiving end of the law in a case like this: a calm, professional, technocratic but relentless display of overwhelming power."

The Telegraph added in their review: "Reality transcends staginess as a strikingly well-realised piece of filmmaking, using judicious sound design and expressive lighting to gain a surreally vivid edge."

Meanwhile, Little White Lies wrote: "Satter's handling of the material and Sweeney's performance... bring this into a more compelling and intriguing space where questions of narrative truth, perception, and the punishment for honesty can be examined."

Reality is due for release in cinemas on June 2 in the UK.
