The first freaky trailer for Sister Death is here ahead of the movie's arrival on Netflix next month.

A prequel to 2017's supernatural horror Verónica, director Paco Plaza returns for another bloodcurdling visit to the Spanish church, where evil stalks the faithful.

"In post-war Spain, Narcisa (played by Aria Bedmar), a young novice with supernatural powers, arrives at a former convent, now a school for girls, to become a teacher," reads an official logline.

"As the days go by, the strange events and increasingly disturbing situations that torment her will eventually lead her to unravel the terrible skein of secrets that surround the convent and haunt its inhabitants."

Alongside Bedmar, the movie is set to star Almudena Amor, Maru Valdivielso, Luisa Merelas, Chelo Vivares and Consuelo Trujillo, with a screenplay by Jorge Guerricaechevarría.

Fresh from checking out the Sister Death footage, fans posted their optimistic reactions online.

"This actually looks good though. Not a single jump-scare sound effect and gorgeous visuals too," wrote one, while another added: "When a trailer entices you menacingly, that's the feeling you want. High hopes."

Meanwhile, as the countdown to Halloween really kicks off, Digital Spy demands that you stick on these 13 movies streaming on Netflix.

Although only UK subscribers will be able to access it, you can't get much better than the original Saw, starring Cary Elwes as an oncologist named Adam who wakes up inside an abandoned toilet facility with his foot chained to a pipe.

Conveniently, a direct sequel and the tenth instalment of the franchise, Saw X, is out now in cinemas.

Sister Death will premiere at the Sitges Film Festival, before being released on Netflix on Friday, October 27.
