Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming The Last Kingdom movie Seven Kings Must Die.

Set to premiere on the streaming site on April 14, the film picks up with protagonist Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) as he's embroiled in the battle for the crown of England following the death of King Edward.

"Rival heirs and invaders compete for power," the film's official synopsis reads.

"And when an alliance comes seeking Uhtred's help in their plans, Uhtred faces a choice between those he cares for most, and the dream of forming a united England."

In the newly released trailer, one character can be heard saying: "You know the prophecy, Uhtred? Seven kings die all of Britain will be united."

Well, that explains the title.

Among those battling for the crown are the late King's son Aethelstan and King Constantin of Scotland. Netflix also released the first look at Danish leader Ingilmundr, who's joining the war as well.

Additionally, the Seven Kings Must Die trailer gives us several glimpses of the action-packed battles, with Uhtred, of course, seen amongst the fray.

"We can defeat them united... or go back into an age of darkness," one character warns ominously as several armies are seen lining up against each other.

Uhtred actor Alexander Dreymon recently spoke about filming for Seven Kings Must Die, as well as the ending of The Last Kingdom.

"It has been such an honour to be part of telling this story for all these years. As an actor, I have been so challenged and gratified by the privilege of playing Uhtred," he told Variety.

"Hanging up Uhtred's sword after filming Seven Kings felt, ironically, heavy — even though I know that our tale has reached its conclusion. As an EP [executive producer] on the show, I could not be more proud of the hundreds of people who spent thousands of hours to make the best product possible."

All of The Last Kingdom is available to stream via Netflix now, with Seven Kings Must Die dropping on April 14.
