First trailer for Julia Roberts' Netflix movie Leave the World Behind
Leave the World Behind, the new Netflix film starring Julia Roberts, has released its first trailer ahead of its premiere in December.
The thriller stars Roberts and Ethan Hawke as a married couple whose family weekend away with their children is turned upside down by a terrifying cyberattack.
The new trailer shows the owner of the family's rented cabin — played by Mahershala Ali — unexpectedly arriving to seek refuge for him and his daughter amid a terrifying cyberattack.

The group must then decide on how to survive the blackout crisis, while coming to terms with each of their places in the crumbling world.
Based on Rumaan Alam's 2020 bestselling novel, the film is written and directed by Sam Esmail, who reunites with Roberts after they previously worked together on Prime Video's psychological thriller Homecoming.
Leave the World Behind marks the first production venture for Higher Ground Productions, founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, who both have executive producer credits for the movie.

Denzel Washington was notably replaced by Green Book and Moonlight actor Ali ahead of production as his commitments to The Equalizer 3 clashed with the thriller's filming schedule.
Kevin Bacon also stars as a conspiracy theorist, as well as Myha'la Herrold (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies), Farrah Mackenzie and Charlie Evans.
Ahead of his appearance in Leave the World Behind, Bacon has been cast in The Bondsman, a new horror series that follows an undead bounty hunter.
Speaking to Looper in August 2022, Bacon revealed he's a fan of horror: "I'm a fan myself. I'm a consumer of it. If a new horror film piques my interest, I'm front and centre opening weekend."
Leave the World Behind premieres December 8 on Netflix.
