The first trailer for Wednesday star Jenna Ortega's new movie Finestkind has been released.

The Paramount+ film is due for release later this year, and follows two estranged brothers who try to strike rich with a commercial fishing operation, though when they fall on hard times, they are forced to make a dangerous deal with a local crime family.

Also starring Emancipation's Ben Foster and Neighbours' Toby Wallace as the two central siblings, the trailer gives a taste of things to come as the brothers band together and take their father's fishing operation into Canadian waters.

After getting a $1,000 fine, however, they risk losing it all, and turn to Ortega's character Mabel, before being forced to carry drugs on their boat for a crime family in exchange for the extra cash they need.

"You live, you die… it's the in-between that counts," one character declares, the final moments teasing some life-risking action for the characters.

Finestkind also stars Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones as the brothers' father, as well as Law & Order: Organized Crime's Lolita Davidovich, Lethal Weapon's Clayne Crawford, Fear the Walking Dead's Aaron Stanford and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's Ismael Cruz Córdova.

The movie has been directed and written by Legend's Brian Helgeland, and counts Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan as a producer.

Despite the anticipation, Finestkind landed some pretty rough reviews following its recent premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Ortega is perhaps best known for playing Wednesday Addams in Netflix's hit series Wednesday, and is set to appear in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel alongside original stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.

Finestkind will be released on Paramount+ in the US this November and in the UK likely on December 15.
