The first trailer for House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke's new film The Good Mother is here.
Also starring Hilary Swank (Boys Don't Cry) and Jack Reynor (Midsommar), the film follows a journalist's attempts to get justice after the murder of her estranged son.
Following her son's death, Marissa Bennings (Swank) forms an unlikely alliance with his pregnant girlfriend Paige (Cooke) in hopes of tracking down the killers.
The pair soon find themselves entangled in a world of corruption and drugs in the seedy underbelly of a small city in upstate New York. Along the way, they uncover an even darker secret.

In the tense trailer, we see Marissa's son running from a car and leaving a voicemail to his mother before being gunned down.
Heartbroken, Marissa is determined to uncover the truth. "Somebody killed my son, I need to know," she tells Raynor's character, despite his advice against pursuing the case herself.
The trailer also focuses on the tense relationship between Marissa and Paige — with the journalist seemingly blaming Paige for her son's drug addiction — and teases a dangerous pursuit as Marissa gets close to catching her son's killer.
Dilone, Hopper Penn, Norm Lewis and Karen Aldridge round out the cast. Miles Joris-Peyrafitte (As You Are, Dreamland) wrote and directed the film, while Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Shaun Sanghani and Siena Oberman produced.

In addition to The Good Mother, two-time Academy Award-winner Swank is also set to feature in the upcoming film Ordinary Angels alongside Alan Ritchson.
Meanwhile, Cooke is currently filming for season two of House of the Dragon and was recently announced to star in the horror-thriller Visitation.
The Good Mother will be released in US cinemas on September 1. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
