The first trailer for the upcoming movie Klokkenluider starring for Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman has been released.

Klokkenluider follows a government whistleblower named Ewan (played by Coleman's fellow former Doctor Who star and Happy Valley actor Amit Shah) and his wife, Silke (Sura Dohnke), who flee to a remote country house in Belgium for their safety.

The actress takes on the role of Flo, a British journalist, in the dark comedy, and can be seen in the trailer interviewing the couple while staying vigilant of the protection detail assigned to them.

Flo then dramatically points out in the trailer (which you can check out for yourself above) though that the two officers assigned to them could actually be "plants" and that the safe house they are in could be "bugged".

Although it's unclear from the trailer exactly what information Ewan has revealed to the world — it's clearly big enough to have him under surveillance.

Klokkenluider, which is set for release in the UK on September 1, is actually the directorial debut of Peaky Blinders actor Neil Maskell, who also wrote the film. It was executive produced by Rebecca director Ben Wheatley.

The movie also stars The Lazarus Project actor Tom Burke, House of the Dragon's Roger Evans and Wednesday's Gracy Goldman.

Klokkenluider had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival last year, with Deadline even comparing it to the Netflix hit Black Mirror. The outlet was also full of praise for Coleman, writing: "Coleman is terrific, recalling the sharp-talking bravado of her Doctor Who character and adding an acerbic, brittle, tabloid edge."

Klokkenluider will hit UK cinemas on September 1.
