There is a transition period after you bring a new pet home. Sometimes it goes smoothly, other times you need to have some extreme patience while your animal is adjusting. Take one woman on the internet, who shared the major win she had with the Basset Hound she recently brought home.

It wasn't an easy road for Cinthanie and her new dog, but the video shows it was all worth it.

It seems like the win was hard won too. In the clip Cinthanie shared, she was playing with her other Basset Hound Joey, when her new baby Gunther decided to tentatively join. It seems like Joey and Mama were having so much fun that Gunther just couldn't resist.

"POV: You've been slowly earning the trust of a dog you rescued two months ago and this is the first time he has played with you," she wrote in the video's onscreen caption.

"We did it Joe," she joked in the caption.

People online were happy for this latest development. "This is the video I needed today. I knew it, he would finally know how safe he is now!" wrote one person. "I’ve been following da baby since the beginning and this made my heart smile," a longtime follower chimed in. "Them setting each other off on howling/baying/barking is sending me," someone else pointed out.

Games to Play with Your Basset Hound

Any time spent with you will put a smile on your dog's face, but having some games in your back pocket can certainly help.

Basset Hounds are known for their sense of smell, in fact they're sense of smell is 10,000 to 100,000 times better than a human's. So they'll really love any game that uses their sense of smell. An easy game to play is to hide treats around your house and then let your dog find them. To make it even more of a challenge you can hide them in harder places. You can also leave your dog inside while you hide the treats outside.

Another great game is Over, Under, Through — especially if it's raining outside. Set up an obstacle course using chairs, stools, or tables in your house for your dogs to go over, under, or through (get it). You might need to coax your dog into going through the course with treats or praise, but before long they'll get the hang of it and love her.

When all else fails, chase is fool-proof. You don't need any toys or level of expertise, chase is as simple as chasing your dog around the yard and then allow them to chase you. Easy peasy!

We're happy Cinthanie and Gunther found each other. They have so many more years of playtime ahead of them.
