The details of new defensive line coach Travian Robertson’s contract with South Carolina have been revealed.

Robertson has signed an employment agreement that runs through Dec. 31, 2023 and will pay a base salary of $400,000, according to records obtained by The State via a public records request.

The deal also includes a number of performance-based bonuses tied to team success. Those bonuses would include the highest of the following:

  • SEC Championship Game appearance — $25,000

  • SEC Championship Game win — $50,000

  • Non-College Football Playoff Bowl appearance — $20,000

  • Citrus Bowl — $25,000

  • CFP “New Years Six” appearance —$30,000

  • CFP Semifinal appearance — $40,000

  • CFP National Championship Game appearance — $50,000

  • CFP National Championship Game win — $65,000

Robertson’s employment agreement also included information regarding his buyout from Tulane, where he was most recently employed as the defensive line coach. Under the terms of the deal, South Carolina agreed to pay the $125,000 that was owed to Tulane on the rest of his deal there.

Other perks included in Robertson’s contract included the use of one loaned automobile determined by USC or a $400 per month automobile stipend, along with covering Robertson’s moving expenses.

If Robertson is fired before the end of his deal, South Carolina would be on the hook for a pro-rated fee based on his base salary and the remaining time on the contract.

If Robertson were to terminate his deal, he owes USC $200,000 within sixty days of doing so, in addition to the $125,000 buyout the university paid Tulane. That fee would be waved should Robertson be hired as a college or NFL head coach or coordinator with primary play-calling duties.

South Carolina hired Robertson in May following Jimmy Lindsey’s departure to LSU. Robertson previously starred on the defensive line in Columbia under Steve Spurrier and had spent time on staff under ex-USC assistant Shawn Elliott at Georgia State.
