About South Carolina

The Gamecocks are on a three-game losing skid after falling to then-No. 20 Missouri 34-12 on Saturday. South Carolina hasn’t won a game since defeating Mississippi State on Sept. 23.

USC is also battling a number of injuries. Starting receivers Xavier Legette and Ahmarean Brown both left the Missouri game with injuries. South Carolina is also still without Vershon Lee, and true freshman Tree Babalade suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter at Mizzou. Beamer on his Sunday evening teleconference declared Legette, Brown and Babalade as questionable for the Texas A&M game.

South Carolina hasn’t lost three straight since 2020. Beamer said he liked how South Carolina responded in the second half against Missouri, but that the Gamecocks just haven’t found a way to finish yet.

About Texas A&M

Texas A&M is coming off a bye week after two-straight losses to Alabama and Tennessee. Both losses were one-score games, but it dropped the Aggies out of the SEC conference title race after they started 4-1.

The Aggies have also had their fair share of injuries, including four members of the defense — Bryce Anderson, Edgerrin Cooper, Walter Nolen and Albert Regis — three of whom were injured against Tennessee.

That doesn’t include quarterback Connor Weigman, who was confirmed to be “likely” done for the season earlier this year by Jimbo Fisher. Texas A&M has averaged 400 yards of offense this season and 32 points per game with Max Johnson at quarterback since Week 4.

Gamecocks and Aggies to watch

USC WR Nyck Harbor: The true freshman wide receiver has had an increased participation level since the bye week and played roughly 60 snaps against Missouri. But with Legette and Brown both injured and with unclear timetables to return, Harbor’s ability to impact the Gamecocks’ offense could be key. He had a career-high 50-yard catch against Missouri and finished the game with two receptions.

USC LB Debo Williams: Williams has been one of the most statistically consistent players on the USC defense this season, and had 14 tackles and two QB hurries against Missouri — tying his season-high of 14 tackles from playing UNC. The redshirt sophomore has had at least five tackles in the last three games, and averages four solo tackles per game.

Texas A&M QB Max Johnson: Johnson, having played six games now, has just under 900 passing yards in his first year as the Texas A&M starting quarterback. He’s had seven touchdown passes for a 56% completion rate and four interceptions. The true sophomore doesn’t have many rushing yards but scored his first rushing TD of the season against Tennessee.

Texas A&M DB Josh DeBerry: DeBerry has been one of the top-producing defensive backs for the Aggies this season, having recorded 31 tackles. He had six tackles and an interception against the Vols before the bye. DeBerry has seven pass breakups, a QB hurry and two interceptions to go along with a sack.
