Yes! Sony Pictures shared a first-look trailer where we see Shawn — erm, Lyle — in action. We catch a glimpse of the beloved children’s book character (wearing a University of Florida t-shirt and scarf, I might add) as he lives with the Primm family in New York City. Plus, we get to hear Shawn sing as Lyle!
So, what songs does Shawn sing for the movie?
Shawn is credited for eight songs on the Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile soundtrack. He collaborates with his costars Javier Bardem on “Take a Look at Us Now” and Constance Wu on “Rip Up the Recipe,” and sings solo on “Top of the World,” “Heartbeat,” “Take a Look at Us Now (Lyle Reprise),” “Carried Away,” and “Take a Look at Us Now (Finale).”
On September 22, Shawn announced on Instagram that “Heartbeat” will be released on Friday, September 30, one week before the film’s release.
“Tracklist for @lylelylecrocodilemovie soundtrack, out 10/7! Heartbeat, an original song I wrote in the movie, will be out next week on 9/30. You can pre-save the soundtrack & get tickets to the movie in theaters at the link in bio x,” he wrote.
Other artists included on the track include Elton John (“Crocodile Rock,” of course) and Stevie Wonder (“Sir Duke”).
What is Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile about?
Based on Bernard Waber’s 1965, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, the film follows the titular character who lives with and helps a family in New York City. Lyle is a beloved reptile known best for playing with neighborhood children and completing daily chores with the Primm family until his neighbor, Mr. Grumps, decides that Lyle should be placed in a zoo.
