First look at Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman in TV miniseries
The first look at Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman's upcoming TV miniseries Faraway Downs is here.
Set to premiere on November 26, the six-part series is a reimagining of Baz Luhrmann's 2008 movie Australia, utilising unused footage from the film in order to adapt it for TV.
The series stars Kidman as Lady Sarah Ashley, a widowed English aristocrat who has recently arrived in Australia to take over the running of her late husband's estate.
Upon arriving at Faraway Downs estate, she is greeted by cattle rancher The Drover (Jackman) and indigenous child Nullah (Brandon Walters) who help her become accustomed to the land and protect her ranch against "ruthless Australian cattle baron" King Carney (Bryan Brown).

In the trailer we see Sarah become acclimatised to the barren and arid lands of Northern Australia, promising to restore the estate to its former glory.
"I am going to bring Faraway Downs back to life," she says, as Nullah and Drover help her get used to running the estate.
Elsewhere in the trailer, we see the devastation of WWII on Australia as well as the impact of Australia's draconian treatment of Aboriginal children, after police officers arrive on the ranch to arrest Nullah.

"The sweeping adventure-romance is explored through the eyes of young Nullah, a bi-racial Indigenous Australian child caught up in the government's draconian racial policy now referred to as the Stolen Generations," an official synopsis for the show says.
"Together, the trio experiences four life-altering years, a love affair between Lady Ashley and the Drover, and the unavoidable impact of World War II on Northern Australia."
Australia received mixed reviews upon its original release, later receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design in 2009.
Faraway Downs premieres on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally on November 26.
